QUIT EVAP AUSTRALIA is the inventor, designer and contractor for the supply of QUIT EVAP Evaporation Mitigation Technology.
The technology comprises any number of panels of waterproof reinforced polypropylene fabric with perimeter and mid rib sleeves. The panels float on the surface, in full contact with the water thereby achieving 100 percent efficiency in preventing evaporation loss from under the panels.
The QUIT EVAP EMT is the only “large modular floating cover type” of evaporation mitigation available on the Australian market today. The modular system allows dams of most shapes and sizes to achieve coverage of 95-100% of the water surface, and thereby achieve a similar percentage reduction of normal evaporation loss.
Install without significant equipment
The panels are sized to enable installation through “Do It Yourself (DIY)” capability, without the need for significant equipment. Panels are nominally 5m x 10m, or 10m x 10m, although larger can be examined for specific applications.
Farm dams and horticultural water storages come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, with those in the range of 0.1 to 2.5 ha being considered the most common size for QUIT EVAP application.
A launch pad is required on the edge of the water at FSL, to assemble panels and launch onto the water. A nominal size of the pad is 25 m x 15 m on a max grade of 6H:1V. The pad needs to be free of sticks and stones.
QEA will provide the necessary supervision and equipment for installation including paddle boards, hand operated winches and geotextile for covering the launch pad.
Storages up to 10 ha
Storages up to 10 ha are considered feasible. For example, a dam which has a water surface measuring 50 m x 100 m at full supply level, has a nominal surface area of 5000 m2 or 0.5 ha. The QUIT EVAP EMT can be “shaped” to the approximate shape of the dam by steps in the 5 m and 10 m dimensions of the EMT.
Every dam or water storage is uniquely site specific, which means that a site specific design solution has to be provided by QUIT EVAP, which we are pleased to do as part of our Customer Service.
Recyclable Life Cycle
The product from which QUIT EVAP panels are manufactured (Aquacon 345) has significant inbuilt UV capacity, coming with a warranty period of 10 years, thereby providing a product with a life expectancy of approximately 12 years.
All products used in the QUIT EVAP product are recyclable including the Aquacon 345 panels. The steel cables are can be reused and the floats are now generally recyclable although some may be reused in the replacement EMT.
