The EMT of QUIT EVAP AUSTRALIA is a Modular Floating Cover type, the modules being nominally 5 m x 10 m, 10 m x 10 m, or 12 x 12 m, which is considerably larger than any other product to appear on the market in Australia.

The EMT panel is manufactured from of welded polypropylene fabric with perimeter floats and intermediate stiffening ribs. Anchorage of the panels to the bank of the dam is provided by galvanized steel cable linked to the corner connections, and the other end secured to star picket posts driven into the bank.

The product is delivered in a Do It Yourself (DIY) format of small elements that are laid out, assembled on the launch pad and incrementally launched (dragged) onto the water surface using tirfor winches secured to the opposite bank. Two panel widths are launched at a time.

A launch pad will need to be prepared on one side of the dam. The slope of the ground of the launch pad should be 1 V to 6 H or flatter if possible. The ground may be smooth bare earth or covered with low cut grass. Stones greater than 10 mm should be removed from launch pad area. The launch pad should then be covered with BIDUM A39 or similar Geotextile to provide a low friction launch surface. The Geotextile can be supplied by QEA if required.
